Wash

A proper wash technique is the foundation for maintaining a swirl-free and flawless finish. Most scratches are actually unknowingly inflicted in this stage by the caring owner. For this reason, we go to great lengths to avoid imparting more scratches into your paint's surface.

We start by rinsing off any loose dirt on the surface of the car with a strong stream of water. Then, utilizing a seperate bucket and specialty brushes, we clean the wheels with our non-acidic wheel cleaner. Brushes, sponges or mitts used on the wheels should NEVER be used on the paint. Our brushes are designed to work with the wheel cleaner to provide subtle agitation and safely remove dust, dirt and grime from the wheel face, spokes and barrel as well as the wheel wells.

Afterwards we soak the paint with a rich lather of car shampoo using our foam gun. The shampoo breaks down dirt further and encapsulates it, so we can rinse it off with a gentle stream of water before we even touch the paint.

Once this is complete, we have a fairly clean car with minimal particles left to scratch or mar the paint. However, in order to make sure we don't do any damage to your vehicle we continue our wash with something known as the 2 bucket method.

  1. Bucket 1
    • Filled with plain water
    • Used only to rinse the wash mitt
    • Utilizes a Grit Guard to trap contaminates
  2. Bucket 2
    • Filled with soap mixture
    • Used only to replenish the wash mitt
    • Utilizes a Grit Guard to trap any additional contaminates

We work from the top down to help ensure all the dirt is removed from the vehicle, cleaning and refreshing our wash mitts frequently with our two buckets. We also have a seperate brush to help clean around emblems, in the gas tank area, door jams, etc. and are sure to meticulously get every inch of your vehicle.

Once thoroughly washed, we rinse the vehicle again before drying with our ultra-absorbant waffle-weave towels and quick detailer spray for lubrication to ensure the towel doesn't leave any scratches either.

Clay

Over time, a car's paint surface will become rough and lose it's luster, even with regular washing. You can typically feel this when washing or even hear it by gently sliding your hand along the paint inside a thin plastic bag (Like a grocery bag) This is due to tree sap, industrial fallout and other things that can become embedded in the clear coat.

A clay bar is used to safely lift these contaminants out of the clear coat and trap them in the clay bar; safely restoring a smooth finish that helps to make your car shine. A good example of this can be seen HERE

Paint Correction - $350+

Paint correction is the process of removing scratches in the clear coat, leaving a haze free surface that appears deep and pure. This is done by buffing an extremely small amount of clear coat off the vehicle in order to level the paint surface. Because there is only a set amount of clear already on the car, it isn't always possible to remove each and every scratch without putting the clear coat in danger. It is necessary for us as detailers to remove as little clear as possible from your vehicle while maximizing correction; preserving the life of your paint.

Here we have an example of what a car's paint may look like when it comes to us. Just like a piece of glass that is all scratched up, it is difficult to see through. The car's paint will appear dull and faded.

Through a careful analysis of how the car's paint reacts to buffing and polishing, we safely level the paint to a point that removes the majority of the defects.

The deeper scratches that cannot be safely removed will still be visible, as well as a few RIDS (Random Isolated Deep Scratches). This provides the best results, giving your car a fantastic gloss and shine, without sacrificing your clear coat to the point of failure.

Headlight Restoration - $50

With the majority of headlights on the road now plastic, we see them begin to fade and discolor with time. This is due to UV rays from the sun breaking down the plastic and leaving a film on the outside. We do a headlight restoration by removing this film and polishing the plastic back to a clear finish. If left unprotected, the headlights will quickly begin to fade and discolor again, so we apply a long lasting sealant over the finished surface as a UV protectant. It is a good idea to wax your headlights along with your car to help preserve both your paint and headlight clarity.

Wax/Sealant - $150+ (Free with Paint Correction)

A good wax helps to give your car a shine and depth like never before, while protecting it from UV damage. Most waxes do this by helping to fill in any micro-scratches, leaving an appearance of smooth paint. The look is fantastic, but the result is unfortunately temporary. Wax will wear away over time and is typically only good for < 6 months depending on the quality of the wax and how well it was applied.

A sealant is very similar to a wax in that it provides a great finish with UV protection, but bonds to the paint on a molecular level; helping it to last longer, < 1 year.

I put waxes and sealants together, because they are often used in conjunction with one another. Either by layering a carnauba wax over a sealant, or using a wax with a sealant additive already in it, like Collinite 845.

A good way to tell if your car is still protected is to watch how the water reacts when you wash it or when it rains. A protected surface will bead up the water and help it to run off quickly.

Coating - $250+

A coating is the latest and greatest UV protectant for automobile paint, windows, wheels, etc. It is scientifically engineered to provide a scratch-resistant, chemical-resistant, hydrophobic, high-gloss surface that last much longer than any wax. Most coatings will last for 3+ years with better protection than a wax could provide for the entirety of it's life. Coatings are highly recommended after a paint correction to protect your investment and also provide an ease of washing you won't get tired of.

Engine Bay Cleaning - $100+

A clean engine bay is both aesthetically pleasing as well as a joy for the home mechanic. Unfortunately, it is also typically the dirtiest part of the car. Oil, road grime and high temperatures help to contribute to mess that can develop in there. Don't be ashamed to "pop your hood" at the next show you go to, or meet up with friends. We take special precautions to ensure the safety of all filters and electrical equipment when cleaning the engine bay, so get that grime free engine without any worry.
